Congratulations to Dr. Angela Enright: Champion of surgical safety is this year’s Teasdale-Corti recipient

Warmest congratulations and thanks to Dr. Angela Enright, whose work was recognized yesterday by the Royal College in the attached announcement from its CEO:

Dear colleagues,

Today is World Humanitarian Day and on this occasion it is my pleasure to announce this year’s recipient of the Royal College Teasdale-Corti Humanitarian Award: Dr. Angela Enright.

Dr. Enright is a renowned B.C. anesthesiologist and officer of the Order of Canada who is widely acclaimed for her global efforts to make anesthesia safe and accessible for all. She is often sought out for her expertise, propelled in part by her success setting up education programs to reduce the loss of physician-trainees from low-income countries and implementing the WHO Surgical Safety Checklist. One of her greatest legacies is the development and distribution of low-cost pulse oximeters through the LifeBox Foundation.

A true champion of surgical and perioperative education, care and safety, Dr. Enright’s story is presented here.

Sincerely,

Andrew Padmos, BA, MD, FRCPC, FACP, FRCP
Chief Executive Officer
