Each member of our medical community has pulled together at this challenging time. We’re delighted to share some inspiring stories of leadership, professionalism, and collegiality, as we introduce you to our peer-nominated COVID All-Stars.
Dr. Nelson Collins provided a warm nomination for his psychiatry colleague, Dr. Chris Blashko. As shared:
“When the COVID crisis started, Chris recognized the need to fill the vacant Acute Care Medical Lead (MHSU) position at RJH/VGH, so he stepped up and volunteered. He has spent countless hours working on well researched, thoughtful, and creative plans and processes to ensure that mental health services in acute care are prepared for COVID. He has been a strong advocate to ensure that the mental health programs’ perspectives, needs, and priorities are heard and addressed by Island Health leadership.
His work is an exemplary realization of the specialist physician mandate to fulfill roles of medical expert, professional, collaborator, communicator, health advocate, manager, learner, and scholar. As such he inspires all of us and is a great role model for our learners.”
Thank you so much, Chris – we are grateful for your leadership!
