Each member of our medical community has pulled together at this challenging time. We’re delighted to share some inspiring stories of leadership, professionalism, and collegiality, as we introduce you to our peer-nominated COVID All-Stars.
It can be easy to focus on our immediate, close-to-home needs during a stressful time. But for Dr. Kiri Simms, the fact that Dr. Omar Ahmad looked beyond our island, province, and borders has made a big difference to our collective readiness. In her nomination, Dr. Simms notes:
“Dr. Ahmad has not only been central to the Covid-19 preparedness for Island Health but he also immediately organized colleagues from the mainland and New York to create UBC-wide webinars to disseminate best-evidence practice information, information that was accessible to all physicians, even those of us who don’t work in critical care medicine.”

Thank you, Dr. Ahmad, for your leadership and foresight!
