While there is an altruistic nature to the work we all do, it feels great to recognize and be recognized!
Dr. Maria Kang and Dr. Paul Colella offered words of appreciation and congratulations to the Pediatric Psychiatry team for the changes they have actively made in their department.
As shared, “Over the last few years, they have increased their physician person-power; created a new call group; had many difficult conversations; improved access and flow in and out of the VGH emergency department as well as improved the inpatient care for children and youth requiring mental health admissions at VGH.” Additionally, they have taken on MRP for mental health patients at VGH.
As noted by Dr. Carol-Ann Saari, the team’s “willingness and flexibility to change the system” has been key to their success. These challenging, rapid changes have required teamwork and dedication, and have resulted in better patient care.
Quoting Dr. Kang, “it is a credit to our colleagues in Pediatric Psychiatry who remain committed to creating and improving care for our kids!”
Many thanks to the Pediatric Psychiatry team!
